10th European Symposium for the Protection of the Night Sky

'The Science of light pollution'
2-4 September 2010, Kaposvár, Hungary

It is our honour to invite you to the 10th European Symposium for the Protection of the Night Sky. The main goal of the symposium is to exchange views among experts and activists working on the field of light pollution. The scientific program will be divided in several sessions, dealing with all aspects of obtrusive light. A special session 'Evolving Technologies as Solutions to Light Pollution' organized by IAU Commission 50 will be held on Friday (September 3) afternoon. The symposium shall take place in Kaposvár, Hungary at the County Hall 2nd-4th September 2010.

Conference fees:

Standard registration fee: 60EUR = 17000HUF
Registration fee for IDA members: 25EUR = 7000 HUF

The above fees apply only for participants who have pre-registered or send their registration before August 15. The late registration fee is 60EUR=17000HUF.

The registration fee can be paid at the registration in Kaposvár - the paynment is preferred to be in Hungarian Forint (HUF). There are ATM machines next to the venue of the symposium.

Social events:

September 3. 19:00: Trip to the Zselic Starry Sky Park. Traditional Hungarian dinner in the Zselic region and then a 5 km walk in the park. Fee: 10EUR = 2800HUF
September 4. 20:00: Conference dinner. Fee: 20EUR = 5600HUF


Lunch will be available at the conference location for about 6EUR.


Accommodation:

Several hotels and motels offer reasonable accommodations in Kaposvár.

Transportation:

Airport shuttle from Budapest:
Several companies offer convenient transfer from the Budapest Ferihegy Airport (http://www.bud.hu/english) to Kaposvár. We recommend this option if several people can share a minibus. If four persons join the transport, then the fee is about 18 EUR (per person, one way). Please contact us with your flight details to organize your trip. The railway stations can be accessed by public transportation (Bus 200E to "Kőbánya Kispest" then Metro line 3 to "Deák tér" and then Metro line 1 to any of the railway stations)

Call for papers

We invite you to contribute to DARKSKY 2010 by presenting a talk or a poster. To submit your contribution, please send your abstract not later than July 15, 2010 to the above contact address.
